LINEAGE

Pyramids are stable structures and is the form used to represent a mother in Lineage. A large pyramid and a small pyramid are connected by a strand of DNA. Hair stitches into the large pyramid and from it dangles the small pyramid. This connection is weakening with time as gravity is constantly pulling the daughter down. The union of copper, brass and nickel silver that construct the pyramids shows the diverse heritage of the women. The sculpture can be dethatched from the body as it is a brooch. The mother pyramid reveals a needle point pattern on the pyramids face that touches the body. Triangles in a variety of colors cover the fibers surface. A pin stem is visible on the shirt even when the sculpture is removed. A triangular fibula pins to the interior of the shirt and a magnetic attraction holds the brooch on the shirt, showing the attraction needed to reproduce. This piece is a commemoration to the bond between mother and daughter that fades with time.
